Bill Imposing Transit Fees on the Strait of Hormuz Passes Committee in Iran’s Parliament

A bill requiring fees for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz has been approved by Iran’s National Security Commission. The draft includes rial-based transit charges, restrictions targeting the United States and Israel, limitations on countries participating in sanctions, as well as provisions on maritime security and environmental regulations. The bill must still pass the General Assembly, the Guardian Council, and receive presidential approval to enter into force.
